This engine test was a rush to beat the incoming rain. The exhaust system had been repaired and reassembled and the rear lights and center panel reinstalled. Air, fuel, and spark was confirmed with ignition but the engine was running rough. The focus was to the assess the distributor position with the aid of a timing gun illuminating the crankshaft pulley and the diagnostic port bridged with a section of wire. Using this combo the engine tune was quickly corrected and beat the rain!

A replacement flange for the exhaust CAT temperature sensor had to be fabricated from 2mm steel and drilled out for the bolts and the temp sensor. Securing the sensor to the flange is another job that needs to be completed.

The original exhaust needed a replacement flange welded on – the original flange had simply disintegrated. There was sufficient steel remaining for a clean re-weld.

An action shot of welding the exhaust flange and photobombing by a cheese plant!
