A long overdue update! A little catch up as a crazy busy Year. Around Easter the TT threw an Engine Management Light error and the Vgate scanner reported 6 error codes: P0411, P0420, P0139, P1110, P1114, and P1602. A pressure loss from the secondary air pump was probably the main cause of these issues. I was hoping the catalyst and O2 sensor errors were just being reported in sympathy.

With the undertray off the secondary air pump was found close to the oil filter. On inspection it was immediately obvious the pump casing was freely flexing as the rivet bolts around the unit (one circled in yellow) had degraded with time; with just finger pressure the open gaps in the casing could be closed shut. Extracting the unit was pig, YouTube directions assisted, but still it was a pig.

This is the repaired pump unit. The degraded rivet bolts were drilled out and replaced with alternate nut and bolts including locking nuts and locking thread. The three rubber anti-vibration fixings were replaced as well as the originals were splitting.
